LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS GUIDE
They are ethical and sustainable diamonds. They are produced with a technology that allows the creation of diamonds identical to mined ones (physically, chemically and optically) without resorting to mining. The only difference between mined diamonds and lab-grown diamonds lies in their origin. This option not only considerably reduces the impact on the environment, but also eliminates the risks traditionally associated to its extraction.
The criteria for assessing the quality of lab-grown diamonds are the same as those used to assess mined diamonds, since both share identical qualities. We refer to the so-called '4C': Color, Clarity, Cut and Carat.
- COLOUR
It is one of the most important qualities of diamonds. The more colourless (transparent), the more valuable it is considered, for its beauty and scarcity. There is a scale that classifies diamonds according to their color, establishing the following grades:
D-F | Colourless |
G-J | Near-colourless |
K-M | Faint yellow |
N-R | Very light yellow |
S-Z | Light yellow |
- CLARITY
IF | Internally flawless |
VV1 y VV2 | Very very slight inclusions |
VS1 y VS2 | Very slight inclusions |
SI1 y SI2 | Slight inclusions |
I1, I2, I3 | Imperfect |
- CUT
- CARAT
